In CastleVille it turns out that the Chicken Coop can be purchased by crowns, but you can't restore your chickens in it.

As excited as the lovely Chicken Coop in Martha Stewart's kingdom in CastleVille, no one know if the item would actually come to the game's store as an item could be purchased. It turns out that the answer to that potential question was yes, as the Chicken Coop has been released in the store for Crowns in the game's Spring item theme. However, there's a catch, and it's a big one.
Unlike the Chicken Coops in FarmVille, Pioneer Trail and countless other Facebook games, that actually allow storage for chickens on your respective farms, homesteads or lands, the CastleVille Chicken Coop does not allow you to store chickens within it, as of this writing. This is more than a bit misleading, due to the item's description in the store the speaks of giving your chickens "a place to call home." For 20 Crowns, you'll end up with a mostly decorative Chicken Coop that can be harvested once daily for Fertilizer, but little else.
It's extremely unfortunate that this is the case, as the chicken is one of the most prevalent animals in the entire game, and a storage solution for these chickens would definitely be appreciated. If and when this changes, and a true storage option comes out for chickens (or any other animals in the game). For now, though, save your Crowns unless you really want that free daily dose of Fertilizer.
