The Halloween Island quest is now live in Dragon City! Get the Frankie and Halloween Dragons.
Halloween Island Quest Tasks
To get the reward dragons you can spend Gems to buy them, or perform tasks to earn them. To get Frankie requires 110 of the tasks to have been completed. To get the Halloween dragon requires you to finish all 138 of the tasks. Each task can be rushed individually with Gems as well. Here are the Tasks, how many of them are required, and how much it costs to rush each step in the task.
You get Eyes by “fighting”. This doesn’t include fights in the Stadium though, only in the Combat World. You get 1 eye per combat you win. (Each player you beat, not each dragon.) So you will have to do 6 rounds of 3 combat each to finish. With 6 hour waits x5, that means the fastest you could complete all 18 Eyes would be about 30 hours.
This will be an easy one. Save your Gems for other tasks unless you’re really in a hurry.
You get Black Cats by breeding dragons. It looks like it’s going to be on a different ratio than past Quests given that only 8 are necessary to collect. I get 2 Black Cats for each of 2 Pures I bred (42 hours each). So I would guess it gives a Black Cat per ~20 hours of breeding time. Not sure though.
You get the Black Cats upon clicking the heart to move the egg to the hatchery.
Every 12 hours you can collect another Candy from the Halloween Island Quest screen. So getting all the Candies will take a minimum of 5 days to complete without Gems.
To complete the Crossed Brooms task you must beat 11 dragons in 1 on 1 combat. These combats happen in the Fight Map within the Hallowing Island Quest screen.
You get one combat per 12 hours, win or lose. So it would also take 5 days to complete this if you don’t lose any fights and don’t rush any with Gems. You can find a complete list of all the dragons you will face, and elements to use to beat them, later on in this guide to Halloween Island.
You can rush through the fights directly with 4 Gems. That will skip the fight, you won’t fight the dragon at that step. Or you can rush the 12 hour timer to fight right away. But you still have to beat the dragon or try again. That costs 2 Gems.
When you collect gold from habitats, you get Witch Hats. I’m not quite sure how much gold you have to collect, but it seems to be most of the time when I collect more than 50k from a habitat I get one Witch Hat. Not always though. Collecting up to 250k never gave more than one Witch Hat. EDIT: I have since gotten 2 Witch Hats several times. It seems there is a random component to how many Witch Hats you will get.
In any case, it should be one of the faster ones to complete. I’m already almost halfway through it after only a few hours.
Unlike previous Quests where you simply bought items for Gold or Food, now you have to collect them. This caught me off-guard, as I have a lot of Food saved up from the Market and so only had one Farm out … and wasn’t even using it. I’m not sure yet how much Food it takes to get a Pumpkin. I will find out in 2 days when my newly placed farms are ready to harvest.
Dragons You Will Fight
To beat the quest you have to win 11 fights. As usual, the opponent will scale your your dragons’ hitpoints, so there’s not much advantage to using different levels or even higher category dragons.
Here are the dragons you will face, and some tactics to use against them. (I will update this as I go!)
1: Bat [Dark,Terra]
Use Light or Terra Attacks, avoid using Dark (or Demon), Nature (or Aztec), Light, Metal primary elements.
2: Vampire [Flame,Dark]
Use Sea or Electric Attacks, and avoid using Sea (or Omega), Light, Metal, or Ice primary elements.
3: Zombie [Metal,Dark]
Use Electric or Dark attacks, and avoid using Terra, Ice, Light, or Metal primary elements.
4: Bone [Dark,Terra]
Just like against Bat, use Light or Terra Attacks, avoid using Dark (or Demon), Nature (or Aztec), Light, or Metal primary elements.
5: Ghost [Dark,Terra]
Just like against Bat and Bone, use Light or Terra Attacks, avoid using Dark (or Demon), Nature (or Aztec), Light, or Metal primary elements.
6: Petroleum [Sea,Dark]
Petroleum isn’t really a Halloween theme dragon … but does sorta look like a ghost I guess. Use Flame attacks to critical hit, and avoid using Flame (or Viking), Electric (or Egyptian), Light, or Metal primary elements.
7: Pure Dark [Pure,Dark]
Another Dark dragon that’s not really Halloween, but I guess they had to fill in the gaps somehow … There’s nothing you can do to critical hit a Pure primary element, so if you go second you’re screwed. Avoid using Light, or Metal primary elements.
If you feel like you might not have enough time to complete all the combats normally, I would recommend skipping the Pure Dark stage for 4 Gems.
8: Specter [Sea,Electric,Dark]
Same deal as with Petroleum. The Electric element doesn’t really add anything since it’s critical hits overlap with the other elements anyways. Use Flame attacks to critical hit, and avoid using Flame (or Viking), Electric (or Egyptian), Light, or Metal primary elements.
9: Hades [Sea,Dark]
Same deal as with Petroleum and Specter. Use Flame attacks to critical hit, and avoid using Flame (or Viking), Electric (or Egyptian), Light, or Metal primary elements.
10: Frankie [Terra,Electric]
Use Metal attacks to critical hit, and avoid using Nature (or Aztec), Dark (or Demon), Flame (or Viking), or Metal primary elements.
11: Halloween [Dark,Nature]
Use Terra, Nature, or Light attacks to critical hit, and avoid using Metal, Light, or Dark (or Demon) primary elements.
