Here’s a trick that I’ve found to help you get an advantage over the undead.This trick is listed as Medium Difficulty because it takes a bit of prepwork, and a little teamwork. Please DO NOT attempt this if you do not understand all the requirements.

What you will be doing here is creating a link for your friends to click on. When they click on it, you will get a specific item, such as french fries (+20 energy) or a shotgun. Whatever it is that you want sent to you. There’s a list at the end of the article.

Step 1: Find your own Facebook ID number.

You need this number so the game know who to send the gift to. To find your own Facebook ID…

a) At the top of the Facebook page, there is a navigation bar in the upper right with options like Home, Profile, and Account. Click Profile.

b) At the top of your browser, you will see a URL that looks like this:

The number at the end of the URL, (after php?id=) is your Facebook User ID. Copy and paste this value into a text editor or somewhere that you can get back to it.  You’ll need this number later.

IF YOU HAVE A VANITY NAME…

If your profile URL doesn’t have “profile.php?=” in it.. then it’s probably a vanity name. Vanity names look similar to this:

It just takes one more step to find your Facebook User ID. Click on your own profile pic in the upper left-hand corner of your window. Doing so will take you to your photo album. At the top of your browser you should see a URL that looks similar to this:

The number at the end is your Facebook User ID. Copy and paste that into a text editor to save it for later.

Step 2: Decide what you’d like to recieve as a gift.

There are a number of things that you may want to receive.. energy is always a good one. You may also want Blueprints to help you build your home up. Here’s a partial list of what I’ve found to work so far. Whatever you pick, keep it in mind for step 3.

Step 3 – Putting it all together

Okay, you have your user ID, and know what item you want to receive. So here’s how you put it all together.

Copy the following URL into your text editor:

http://apps.facebook.com/zombielane/SendGift?gid=XXXXXX&recipient=YYYYYY

Now, replace the XXXXXX with the item you want, and the YYYYYY with your Facebook User ID.

Here’s an example of what it might look like when you’re done. In this example, let’s say you wanted a Blueprint.

When you’re done, you’ll want to share the link with your friends. You can either send it to one of your Zombie Lane buddies in a private message and ask them to click it, or you can post it to your wall and ask all your friends to click on it. It’s up to you how you want to distribute it. But every time someone clicks on your link, you will receive that item.

I like to paste it into my status with a friendly little message, like this:

You will need to refresh your game from time to time if you’re not seeing the items appear in your inventory. Also, your friends will need to have played Zombie Lane before.. here’s the link to the game if you need to give it to them. Follow this link to play Zombie Lane.

Troubleshooting:

Here’s some things to keep in mind if you are having problems.

1) Make sure the item is spelled correctly. Be mindful of capitalization.

2) Make sure you have played Zombie Lane recently (within last hour). Also make sure your friends have played Zombie Lane recently (within the last hour or so)

3) You may get the message that you received an item, but it will not appear in your inventory until you refresh your game.

4) Your friends WILL see a wierd error message when they click on your link. This is normal. It’ll say something like “HTTP Status 500″ and be followed by some wierd gobbledigook. It’s nothing to worry about. It should still work just fine (unless of course, they change this trick)
